Senior Dillon Casey (left, in January 2025) is Piedmont's top player back this season. He scored 1,000 points for his career with the Highlanders during the game vs. Archie Williams in the Piedmont Winter Classic championship game on Dec. 6, 2025.

Piedmont High School’s boys basketball team once again came up short in its own tournament, falling to Archie Williams-San Anselmo in the championship game at Binks Gymnasium on Dec. 6, 58-48.

According to Highlanders coach Ben Spencer, Piedmont hasn’t won the tournament since 2016.

“(We were) ice cold tonight from floor tonight,” Spencer said. “Defense was solid. Lots to be proud of. Kids battled. Lots of heart, but also lots we can work on.”

Dillon Casey had 22 points, passing the 1,000 point barrier in his career with the Highlanders. Beach Lorin had 15. However, only five Piedmont players scored.

Brian Wright led the Peregrine Falcons with 20 points. James Butler had 18.

Archie Williams outscored the Highlanders 20-7 in the second quarter to take control of the game. Piedmont rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Falcons down the stretch, 22-13. Casey had 10 of his points in the quarter and Lorin had seven of his.

On Dec. 5, the Highlanders defeated Head-Royce in the semifinals, 72-55. Lorin led the way with 27 points. Casey had 17 and Lucian Fang Ring added 13.

Tucker Peay had 16 points to lead the Jayhawks. Tua Montoya contributed 11.

Piedmont raced out to a 22-5 lead after one quarter and cruised from there out.
