A wicker basket full of jewelry was taken from in front of a residence on Sunnyside Avenue on Nov. 6. The victim was moving items from her vehicle to the residence. A brown wicker storage basket containing jewelry was left near the curb for approximately 15 minutes, from 9:30-9:45, according to the victim. The basket was gone when she returned.
There is no information on the suspects according to Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan. The estimated loss is over $1,000.
On Nov. 2, a black Tesla sedan drove into the parking lot at ACE Hardware on Grand Avenue at 3:34 a.m. Multiple Piedmont Police officers said the occupant began yelling at them about prior police contacts, according to Captain Monahan. The vehicle fled via Grand. Captain Monahan said the driver then called dispatch and “fabricated stories” about Piedmont police. He also allegedly threatened the dispatcher.
Oakland Police located the suspect near Jean Street and Santa Rosa Avenue in Oakland. Captain Monahan said he was seen with an open container. The suspect then parked and attempted to flee on foot. During his arrest, Captain Monahan said the man fell forward and hit his head and face on the side of the police vehicle. Captain Monahan said the suspect refused medical assistance. He also said he spat on an officer.
The man was arrested for DUI, threats, evading police and possession of an open container. He was taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
