Hundreds of people swarmed the streets of West Oakland on Thursday night to catch a glimpse of popular YouTube streamer IShowSpeed, whose presence attracted crowds of fans and sparked a sideshow.

IShowSpeed, who boasts 44 million subscribers on YouTube, is known for doing 24/7 live-streams while traveling around the world and performing various stunts.

He spent day 29 of his “Speed Does America” tour in San Francisco and Oakland. Massive crowds of fans followed his every step, with security having to constantly push people away as he visited different sites.

After spending the day in San Francisco, IShowSpeed traveled across the Bay Bridge to Oakland. He and his team stopped by the restaurant Hyphy Burger, which quickly attracted droves of people who surrounded the restaurant trying to capture his attention.

IShowSpeed and his team went to the rooftop of the restaurant to escape the swarm of boisterous fans, who were blasting Mac Dre’s “Feelin’ Myself” while dancing on top of Hyphy Burger’s “Hyphy Bus” parked outside.

“We shouldn’t stay here for too long,” he said after 10 minutes of being on the roof as the crowd quickly ballooned. “It’s building up a lot.”

‘Oakland is nuts’

The intersection of West Grand Avenue and Market Street was soon filled with fireworks, lowrider cars and fans shouting “Speed!”

Several cars eventually began doing donuts at the intersection, with people chasing after them. IShowSpeed was visibly bewildered by the sideshow.

“Why are they running to the car … are they stupid?” he said concerningly. “I can’t watch this.”

The sideshow prompted him to leave, which was another difficult task in itself. IShowSpeed wiggled his way out of the restaurant between hoards of fans begging for a photo with him.

“Oakland is nuts,” he said to his livestream as fans surrounded his car. “Today was the craziest day of the tour.”

Before his stop in Oakland, IShowSpeed visited San Francisco, where he met Mayor Daniel Lurie at City Hall and spent time with Interim Police Chief Paul Yep at a Fire Department station. He also visited iconic landmarks such as Fisherman’s Wharf, Mission Dolores Park, and Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory in Chinatown.

“We’ve been live for 11 hours in the Bay Area. We did so much,” he said while driving back to his tour bus. “We still pushing through, which is crazy.”

IShowSpeed debriefed his busy day in the Bay Area with his team members before starting the long drive to Las Vegas for day 30 of his tour.

“Shout out to San Francisco. Shout out to Oakland. Shout out to California,” he said. “Y’all boys showed out.”
