They say a picture’s worth a thousand words, and images from this week’s pool construction site certainly tell an exciting story for residents who’ve been eagerly awaiting an end to the pool construction project.
Plastering work on the competition pool started just after 6 a.m. on Wednesday. Filling was underway by noon, using garden hoses at first to protect the plaster, then upgrading to heavier flow once depth of water allowed. By Thursday morning, the pool was filled.
On Friday construction crews turned to the activity pool, plastering in the early morning and filling the whole pool today.

Here’s a time-lapse video of the entire process.
Now that the plaster has been set and the pools filled with water, the city will begin the process of testing the electric, mechanical, and water treatment systems that keep the pool running to make sure everything is working together as designed. Testing will begin with the chillers and filters, then move on to the chemical and control systems.
The pools may start to look cloudy or “milky” in the coming days, the city said, but that’s expected, a normal part of the process.
How long this phase lasts depends on what the city learns in testing – “commissioning” can last as little as two months, or longer if issues are identified that need to be resolved, the city said in social media posts this week.
