In honor of the Giving Campaign launch and PEF’s 50th anniversary, Dress Best For Less granted the Piedmont Education Foundation $50,000 on Sept. 16. DBFL board president Nagisa Yamamoto presented the check to Giving Campaign co-chairs Kim Hunter and Catie Osborn, and PEF executive director Heather Frank. This is the most recent installment of Dress Best for Less’ longtime collaboration with PEF

“The mission of Dress Best for Less is to support the children of Piedmont. We are excited to be able to do that in a way that also helps the environment,” says Yamamoto.

Formed by a group of Piedmont moms in 1982, Dress Best for Less sells unused clothing and household items to raise money for local schools. They donate the lion’s share of their profits to the Piedmont Education Foundation, and have given more than one million dollars to date.

“DBFL’s support is an important part of PEF’s long history,” says Frank. “Their early collaboration helped bolster a fledgling PEF and their ongoing investment have played a key role in the growth of PEF and improvement of our schools.”

PEF was established in 1975 by a group of Piedmont community members who wanted to build a better future for their children. Their mission is to provide sustained financial support to Piedmont schools through fundraising and community engagement. PEF’s Giving Campaign is in full swing.

Community members that give before Nov. 2 will receive a purple sign of appreciation for their front yard.

DBFL accepts donations of lightly used designer shoes and clothing. In addition to the donation center at 2501 Harrison Street, there is a donation bin in front of Mulberry’s market. The Dress Best for Less retail store is located at 4020 Piedmont Ave.
