Registration is open for the Fall 2025 session of Piedmont Adult School

The fall session will include a wide range of classes in art, business, computers/tech, cooking, exercise, language, music and more.

Among the new classes offered this fall is “Philosophy for Life,” taught by Stephen Szczepanek. According to Stephen, “philosophy is a way for us to engage deeply with the most difficult questions of human existence: who we are, what our purpose is on this planet, and what it means to live a fulfilled, authentic life.” The course will cover the teachings of philosophers ranging from Plato to Descartes to Kant, giving students a solid grounding in philosophical thought and a basis to explore independently.

A native of England, Stephen holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Philosophy from the University of Oxford.

Stephen will also be teaching Conversational Intermediate Spanish for the Adult School. In addition to Spanish, he speaks French, Italian, Greek and Polish.

“Teaching new ways to communicate and understand the world is a real joy for me,” says Stephen. “That’s why I love to share the gift of philosophy and languages.”

Come learn something new, expand your horizons, and meet great people in a friendly, low-stress environment. Check out all the classes and register online at piedmontadultschool.org, or by calling 510-594-2655. Classes do fill up, so register right away for best availability.
