UPDATE: The Pickett Fire, a wildfire near Calistoga in Napa County, continued to burn in remote areas overnight and prompted new evacuation orders and warnings Friday morning, according to Cal Fire.
The fire was reported shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday near Pickett Road and has burned at least 2,133 acres with 0% containment as of Friday morning.
Three night-flying helicopter crews dropped water onto the fire as it burned overnight in areas where crews had limited access from the ground, and Cal Fire said firefighter safety will be an emphasis as temperatures in the area are expected to reach the upper 90s later Friday. About 435 fire personnel have been assigned to battle the blaze.
Evacuation orders are in effect for zones NPA-E114, NPA-E115, NPA-E120 and NPA-E121-B, while evacuation warnings are in effect for NPA-E107, NPA-E121-A, NPA-E122, POP-E001-B, POP-E002-B and ANG-E001. People can find their zone at protect.genasys.com.
The Bay Area Air District has extended an air quality advisory through Saturday because of smoke caused by the Pickett Fire and advised people particularly in Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties to avoid exposure if possible.
