No injuries in Wednesday’s Annerley Road fire

The Piedmont Fire Department received multiple 911 calls about a fire at a residence on Annerley Road shortly after 10 p.m. on Wednesday night. Piedmont Fire Chief Dave Brannigan said firefighters arrived on the scene within minutes and found a detached deck in the back yard of a home on fire. “Firefighters extinguished the flames before the fire could reach any nearby structures,” he said. “No one was injured and the residents were able to remain in the home.”  Brannigan said he had no comment on a possible cause as the investigation is ongoing.

“Piedmont firefighters stopped this fire from spreading or causing injuries, which is the best outcome,” Brannigan said in an email to the Exedra on Friday. “Quick activation of 9-1-1 by the residents and neighbors made that possible, I encourage everyone to take a moment and practice remaining calm and making that call” should you find yourself in the same situation at your home.
