Suspect, victim met up over previous accident
A suspect allegedly assaulted an individual in Piedmont when the two parties met up to settle a previous accident that happened in Fremont.
The meeting was at approximately 4:20 p.m. on July 11, according to Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan. The accident had happened two days before. No other information on the accident was provided by Piedmont Police.
The suspect was accompanied by a second person. The parties got into an argument about how much cash would be paid. According to Captain Monahan, one suspect slammed a car door on the victim’s leg, then pulled him out of the car, punched the victim and threw him to the ground. Meantime, the second suspect allegedly pulled a bag with $200 worth of tools out of the back seat of the victim’s vehicle.
Both suspects fled on San Carlos Avenue in a black Chevrolet Camaro. The Camaro was registered to the suspect who allegedly assaulted the victim. The suspect was arrested the next day. Some of the property was recovered. The second suspect remains at large.
Another disputed was reported on July 12 on Hagar Avenue. According to the police log, a repairman allegedly refused to leave the residence in a dispute over their payment. The report came in at approximately 4:07 p.m.
The log said the repairman was attempting to “undo” the repair and then left. There was no information on what was repaired. Police responded.
On July 16, a red 2003 Ford was spotted by police parked on Ridgeway Avenue blocking the lane at approximately 10:30 p.m. Police saw the driver enter the vehicle, according to Captain Monahan, and the vehicle was allegedly weaving in and out of the late on Piedmont Avenue. The vehicle was pulled over at Piedmont and John Street in Oakland.
The officer reported smelling alcohol from the driver and that he had bloodshot and watery eyes. According to Captain Monahan, the driver told the officer he had not been drinking and declined to take a field sobriety test nor a preliminary alcohol screening test.
The officer ordered the driver out of the vehicle and reported that the driver had to be repeatedly told to move to the sidewalk.
The driver was arrested for DUI and taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
