Piedmont High School’s boys lacrosse team fell to visiting Bishop O’Dowd 11-5 in the West Alameda County Conference playoffs at Witter Field on May 1.
The Highlanders now await a potential North Coast Section playoff berth. The NCS brackets will be announced on May 4.
Connor Fredericks and Ian Nguyen each scored two goals against the Dragons. Brendan Devine added a goal. Timmy Kalamas had three assists. Gus von Metzsch had eight saves.
Kevin Sally led Bishop O’Dowd with five goals. Trevor Erickson had three. Jacob Glasgow had two goals while Julian Scott had a goal and two assists. Rocco Doubrava had eight saves.
The game was tied 2-2 after one quarter, but the Dragons got three in the second and four in the third to take a 9-3 lead.
Piedmont is now 4-10 on the season after finishing 3-1 in WACC play. The Highlanders are expected to qualify for the NCS Division 2 playoffs. Piedmont missed the playoffs last year after finishing as NCS runner-up the year before.
