Dept. of Public Works says no circuits taken or damaged
An unknown suspect or suspects damaged a Piedmont Department of Public Works circuit breaker box on April 21, causing about $1,000 worth of damage, according to Piedmont Police Department Captain Chris Monahan.
The vandalism was discovered on a traffic signal that was flashing yellow at around 12:41 p.m., according to the police log. It involved an aluminum panel door to the circuit box. DPW determined that no circuits were missing or damaged in the box, Captain Monahan said. He added there are no suspects at this time.
At 1:39 a.m. on April 25, a green 2004 Subaru Forester was seen by police traveling north on Grand Avenue at “a high rate of speed,” according to Captain Monahan. He said police saw the vehicle weave into the opposite lane while approaching the police officer’s location. Police followed the vehicle and pulled it over after it continued to weave and then stop in the middle of the road. There was a passenger according to the police log.
The male driver was taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin and charged with DUI. The suspect refused a preliminary alcohol screening and a breath test. A blood draw was conducted at Santa Rita Jail. An Uber was called for the passenger.
On April 22, Piedmont Police found an unoccupied white 2018 Honda Accord on Elliot Street in Oakland at 6:47 a.m. A records check showed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Oakland. The vehicle was towed.
