The Blotter | GMC Sierra stolen from Piedmont

Vehicle later recovered in Hayward

A GMC Sierra was stolen in Piedmont on April 9 and was recovered later that day in Hayward. The maroon 2019 Sierra was stolen from Maxwelton Road at 5:37 a.m. The vehicle was tracked to a Home Depot in Hayward, according to Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan.

He said Hayward police found the vehicle and it was towed for the registered owner.

A black Hyundai sedan with missing license plates was found on April 7 near Oakland Avenue and Perry Place at 9:50 p.m. Police checked the VIN and found it had been reported stolen out of San Leandro the day before. The officer noted that the ignition switch appeared to be broken. The door was unlocked and police found no contraband inside the vehicle, according to Captain Monahan. He said the vehicle was registered to a resident of Castro Valley. The vehicle was towed.

On April 9, a resident reported a potential ICE vehicle outside a home on Crocker Avenue at 1:28 p.m. Captain Monahan said the vehicle had TCS painted on the side for Triple Canopy Security, which police said is contracted to PG&E. Police advised the caller.

Captain Monahan said it’s OK for residents to call when they are not sure but that “this had nothing to do with ICE.”
