Softball 4-4 entering spring break

Piedmont High School’s softball team entered its spring break with a 4-4 record after splitting games with Berean Christian and San Lorenzo

On April 1, the Highlanders lost at home to Berean Christian, 3-1. The Eagles broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the fifth. The first came home on an error, the second on a double by Olivia Kundysek. She went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI on the day.

Maya Fujimoto singled in Piedmont’s run in the bottom of the fourth. Fujimoto went the distance and took the loss on the mound, allowing five hits and two walks and struck out 11. The Highlanders were held to two hits by Audrey Longtin, who struck out 13 and walked seven in pitching a complete game for the win.

On April 3, Piedmont got a 17-7 win over visiting San Lorenzo in a game shortened to six innings due to the mercy rule. Samantha Ronen went 4-for-4 with five RBI and three runs scored to pace the Highlanders offense. Hannah Joerger was 4-for-5 with four RBI. Sa’mara Levi was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Kajsa Benson was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, while Edie Elmquist was 2-for-2 with four runs scored and an RBI.

Ronen also went the distance on the mound for the victory, allowing two earned runs and one hit with eight strikeouts against nine walks.

Chantal Perez pitched a complete game for the Dons and took the loss. She allowed 10 earned runs on 16 hits with five strikeouts and three walks.

Madison Pareja had the only hit for San Lorenzo. She was 1-for-1 with two walks and two runs scored. Hyacinth Doria had three RBI for the Dons.

Piedmont is off until April 14 when it is scheduled to host Oakland Tech.
