Local with Lisa | Piedmont Middle School fundraiser

I had an absolute blast at the 80’s-themed fundraiser for Piedmont Middle School and I’m glad I could be a business sponsor for the 3rd year in a row.

Parents came together to support essential programs. Huge thanks to @motherstouchoakland for the incredible food – 80’s classics with a gourmet twist!  This community knows how to come together, have fun and support our schools!

Lisa:  I am off to the largest fundraiser for the Piedmont Middle School.  I am honored to be a business sponsor.  We are supposed to dress the way we did in middle school.  This is the best I could do, let’s go check it out!

That’s middle school me with one of my best friend’s also named Lisa.  I never would’ve guessed I’d be re-living my middle school days but it’s all for a great cause: raising money for Piedmont Middle School. The decorations were straight out of the 80s instantly transporting everyone back in time.  And what’s a party without signature cocktails?

Royal Bartending Bartender: The signature cocktail is the Carnazzo Cocktail, which will be the most famous one tonight. We have the old school fashioned. The most popular drink has got to be the Carnazzo. I know it, and I know a lot of people are going to love it. We have vodka, triple sec, cranberry, and lime juice, and you’re good to go.

Lisa: I worked the check-in table, saw some incredible outfits, and even ran into old friends from my Piedmont middle school days. I still have a mix tape Rachel made back in the day.

The food for the night was in expert hands thanks to Shelby Starks of Mother’s Touch. Shelby was a chef for 15 years and launched her catering business just before the pandemic.

Shelby Starks:  I love entertaining with food, love creating memorable experiences and love creating community this way by bringing people together at the table.

Lisa:  Shelby is from Oakland, lives in Oakland and operates her business in Oakland. She even calls her food Oakland comfort food to honor dishes she grew up on.   Her menu for the night was a nostalgic twist on school lunches.

Shelby Starks: 80’s 90’s theme lunch. We have flatbreads for our grown up 80’s babies, pizzas from back in the day, cheeseburger sliders, panna cotta as well as adult lunchables with two types of charcuterie and caviar on chicken nuggets.

The night featured a live and silent auction, an epic candy bar, and an unbeatable 80s vibe. In the end, it was a major success—raising funds, glasses, and nostalgia all at once.
