The 56th Annual Piedmont Bird Calling Contest takes place this Friday April 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Alan Harvey Theater. Tickets are $10 for students and $20 for adults and are on sale HERE
A beloved Piedmont tradition, this year’s Bird Calling Contest features students representing calls of a western meadowlark, a common crow, Jackson’s widowbird, the loggerhead shrike and others.
This year’s event includes a return visit by PHS alum Danelle Morones — one of the first PHS Bird Callers to be featured on the Johnny Carson Show — and PHS alum judges Jeff Peters (also a current PHS teacher), Valerie Lee (of J.Miller Flowers) and Josh Berstein (All New Smiles Dentistry). This show often sells out, so purchase your tickets early if you plan to attend.
Piedmont’s Bird Calling Contest also incorporates a poster competition for student artwork. This year’s Poster Contest winner was PHS student Layla Reed-Miguel.
