A male motorcycle rider was seen by police riding on the wrong side of the road early on the morning of March 2. The vehicle was also speeding, according to Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan. He said the suspect was observed turning from Piedmont Avenue to Pleasant Valley Avenue at 2:15 a.m.
Captain Monahan said the rider “continued at a high rate of speed, swerving in and out of both southbound lanes of the roadway, displaying erratic driving.” The rider was pulled over and it was determined he showed signs of intoxication, according to Captain Monahan. He was taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin and booked for DUI.
On March 5, a man on a bicycle was contacted by police at 9:12 a.m. after a report of a male looking into a construction site. The suspect was found by police on La Salle Avenue. Piedmont Police officers determined he was on probation, according to Captain Monahan. A searched during up a small knife in his pocket. It had a three-inch blade and was unsheathed, according to Captain Monahan. He said the individual had other small pocketknives and a glass pipe, and small bags of marijuana and suspected methamphetamine. Captain Monahan said the suspect was “processed.”
On March 4, an unknown suspect entered a parked Chrysler van on St. James Drive between the hours of 1:20 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. A barber’s stylist set and tools were taken with an approximate value of $1,800.
On March 5, a residence on Ramona Avenue was entered through a locked front window. The report came in at 9:08 p.m. The suspects allegedly took a flat screen television and left through the front door. The total loss including damage to the window is estimated at $500.
A vehicle reported stolen out of Pittsburg was recovered near Stanley Place and Fairmount Avenue. Police spotted the parked 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe at 7:13 a.m. on March 3. A VIN check showed the reported theft. The vehicle was towed.
At 11:25 a.m. on March 4, tools were reported stolen from two work pickups (an F-150 and a Ford Ranger) on Estates Drive. The victim was working construction in the rear of the house. A neighbor reported at white Nissan Murano connected to the suspect or suspects. That vehicle was later found and had been stolen.
