Was found at hardware store, also had fake credit cards

An Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) hit led to the arrest of a male suspect found to have multiple fake IDs and credit cards.

The incident began 3:59 p.m. on March 11 when the city’s ALPR system reported a hit on a white Honda Pilot with two stolen license plates near Grand and Wildwood avenues, according to Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan. The vehicle was found by police parked at the Ace Hardware on Grand. A VIN check showed the vehicle reported stolen out of Foster City.

Police reviewed surveillance video with the store manager and the suspect was found in the store. Captain Monahan said a searched turned up an altered California ID card and credit cards not under the suspect’s name.

The Honda Pilot was searched and over 100 pieces of mail were found as well as mail keys and photos of altered IDs with the suspect’s photo and various different names. The equipment used to produce the forged IDs was also in the vehicle.

The suspect was taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin and booked on possession of a stolen vehicle, identity theft and possession of a variety of stolen products.


A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on March 7 on the border with Oakland. The vehicle made a turn from Park Boulevard onto Trestle Glen Road and struck a pedestrian. The victim was taken to Highland Hospital with unknown injuries. The driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Captain Monahan said Oakland responders were also dispatched and after investigation, it was determined the incident happened in Oakland’s jurisdiction.


Early in the morning on March 14, a traffic stop was conducted on a silver 1998 Toyota 4Runner for multiple vehicle code violations, according to Captain Monahan. The vehicle was pulled over at Pleasant Valley and Piedmont avenues.

The female driver showed signs of intoxication, according to Captain Monahan. He said she declined field sobriety tests but submitted to a preliminary alcohol screening and produced an 0.15 percent blood alcohol level.

The suspect was taken to Santa Rita Jail and produced a blood sample. She was charged with DUI.
