Suspect allegedly broke doorbell camera with knife

A man was arrested in Piedmont after allegedly knocking on a front door with a knife in his hand. The incident happened on Feb. 24 at 10:52 p.m. on Ronada Avenue.

Police arrived and found a male suspect walking on Ronada, according to Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan. He said police told the suspect to stop, but the suspect continued walking towards Monticello Avenue. According to the police log, a police officer drew their gun.

The suspect went behind some bushes and was eventually located on Monticello. Captain Monahan said the suspect was detained and searched, which turned up a knife described by police as a dirk or dagger, which was used to break the doorbell camera. A glass pipe was also found.

The suspect was identified as Jarvis McMillan and taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. He was booked for illegal concealment of a dirk or dagger, vandalism, resisting arrest, delaying or obstructing a police officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, and both a felon and probation violation.


On Feb. 25 at 7:26 a.m. on Grand Avenue, PPD detained a pedestrian whom the officer knew had an outstanding warrant, Captain Monahan said. The warrant was out of Santa Clara County and was for vandalism and battery. A search of the suspect turned up 2.52 grams of suspected amphetamine and a broken glass pipe, Captain Monahan said. The suspect was taken to Santa Rita Jail.


On Feb. 24, a white Dodge Ram 1500 pickup was reported to be backing into a driveway on St. James Drive at 4:23 a.m. The incident was captured on a neighbor’s surveillance camera, according to Captain Monahan. He said a white Honda Accord also was parked on the street.

The suspects entered the residence through a garage door, according to Captain Monahan. He said the house was unoccupied due to remodeling and the suspects went room to room through the house. The suspects fled prior to the arrival of Piedmont Police.

A contractor reported approximately $15,000 in tools and equipment were taken. The owner of the house reported approximately $5,000 in losses in bicycles and personal items.

An investigation led officers to 100th Avenue and International Boulevard, Captain Monahan said. The Dodge Ram was located at 9:48 a.m. and a traffic stop was conducted. Captain Monahan said the loss was in plain view in the pickup. The driver was arrested for burglary, possession of stolen property and a warrant. He was taken to Santa Rita Jail.


On Feb. 27, a burglary was reported on Fairview Avenue at an unoccupied residence. The time of the incident was approximately 7:17 p.m. An unknown suspect or suspects forced their way in through a locked rear patio door, according to Captain Monahan. He said two jewelry boxes were taken with miscellaneous jewelry in them along with a safe containing passports and a coin collection. The loss including damage to the door is estimated at $2,600.


On Feb. 24, a 2004 Lincoln LS registered a hit on the city’s Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system at Grand and Wildwood avenues at 8:07 p.m. Shortly thereafter, police found the vehicle at Pleasant Valley Avenue at Gilbert Street. Police pulled the vehicle over and arrested the driver for possession of a stolen vehicle. The suspect was taken to Santa Rita Jail.
