Enhancements to the visual and performing arts programs at Beach, Havens, and Wildwood are on the horizon.
This year’s Spring Fling season, Palm Royale, is dedicated to the “A” in STEAM. Our children deserve to learn on musical instruments and art supplies in good repair. As our rising 4th and 5th graders look forward to music theory and learning string instruments, Spring Fling will make sure they have sheet music and enough violins to go around. Funds raised will also go toward supplying our arts and crafts rooms, upgrading theater performances, and setting up instrument repair funds for all grades.
The ability to purchase classroom enhancements, large and small, outside of PUSD’s budgeted expenditures is what sets the Spring Fling season apart from the Giving Campaign. Funds raised through the Giving Campaign are used to supplant PUSD’s budget needs. “Parent contributions through the annual Giving Campaign help close the gap between what PUSD receives from government funds and what it actually costs to provide each student with an excellent education,” says PEF Executive Director Heather Frank. Funds raised through the Spring Fling season are supplemental to the PUSD budget.

Last year, the Spring Fling season funded decodable books to enhance student literacy, classroom technology to build computer skills, and a contract with Playworks to promote a positive playground experience. This year, elementary parents have the opportunity to help build an expanded program for visual and performing arts. “
“Kids love visual and performing arts in our elementary schools, and expanding these programs will provide an amazing opportunity for them to develop creativity and self expression skills, ” says Spring Fling Co-Chair Monika Riddle.
Parents will also have the opportunity to “raise the paddle,” either at the gala or on PiedmontSpringFling.org, to continue the investment in elementary counseling at Beach, Havens, and Wildwood. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities for the April 25 Palm Royale Gala are available at PiedmontSpringFling.org.
