Girls lacrosse rebounds after tough losses
Peyton Watson scored seven goals to help lead Piedmont High School’s girls lacrosse team to a 15-2 win over host Northgate on March 20.
Friedie Schickedanz had four goals and three assists for the Highlanders, who are 4-4 on the season. Chloe Graham had three goals and Mary Schickedanz had one. Bella Johansson and Mya Taylor had the goals for the Broncos.
Sophie Santander had four saves for Piedmont.
On March 11, the Highlanders lost at home to Branson-Ross, 18-6. Watson led Piedmont with three goals with Friedie Schickedanz scoring two and Graham one. Santander had 10 saves.
The Bulls got five goals from Audrey Spaly and four from Olivia Ritter. Ava Grevelding and Lily Spaly had three goals apiece.
On March 14, the Highlanders fell in double-overtime at Las Lomas, 8-7. Ela Asaravala scored the game-winning goal for the Knights, her fourth of the game. She had also scored the game-tying goal with just 12 seconds left in regulation. Lara Horeczko also had four goals for Las Lomas. Talia Kinder had nine saves for the Knights.
Friedie Schickedanz had a huge game for Piedmont, scoring five goals including one that put the Highlanders up 7-6 with just 1:08 left in the second half. Watson had two goals for Piedmont. Santander recorded 11 saves.
Highlanders coach Carlton Chan said his team just couldn’t hold Las Lomas.
