The Piedmont Fire Department responded to a single-car accident on Grand and Greenbank avenues on Dec. 21.


On Dec. 21, a single-car accident at Grand and Greenbank Avenues led to the arrest of a driver under suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. At 9:06 p.m, officers responded to a report of the accident. Captain Monahan said a woman was standing outside her overturned vehicle, a red Nissan Xterra with the air bags deployed. According to Captain Monahan, she declined medical attention and exhibited signs of being under the influence. She submitted to preliminary alcohol screenings tests and recorded 0.178 and 0.185 percent. A blood draw warrant was obtained. She was arrested and taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. The vehicle was towed.


A vehicle reported stolen out of San Jose was recovered on Dec. 22. A grey 2010 Toyota Rav4 activated the city’s Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system around 7:10 p.m., according to the police log. Piedmont police found the vehicle parked and unoccupied on Trestle Glen Road. The vehicle was towed.


An unidentified suspect reportedly was stealing tools from pickup trucks on Dec. 27. The report came in from Monticello Avenue at 11:30 a.m.

A victim confronted the individual according to Piedmont Police Department Captain Chris Monahan and the suspect held a saw “over his head and towards the victim,” causing the victim to back off. The suspect fled the scene in a black Infiniti Ex35 with a stolen license plate registered to a Mazda, according to Captain Monahan.


On Dec. 27, a possible fraud was reported to police. The victim said they had lost $1,900 in Fastrak bridge charges after selling a vehicle in 2020. The victim was referred to the DMV and Fastrak.
