With new decision-makers coming on board to Piedmont’s City Council and Board of Education this month, here’s a summary of how and when to keep track of local public meetings with your elected officials. You can also stay informed by subscribing to the city’s emergency alerts, emails, and social media accounts.

City Council

Piedmont’s new mayor and vice mayor are Betsy Smegal Andersen and Conna McCarthy. The other councilmembers are Jennifer Long, Lorrel Plimier, and Tom Ramsey. You can email councilmembers here: citycouncil@piedmont.ca.gov

The Piedmont City Council meets on the first and third Mondays of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 120 Vista Avenue.

Members of the public are invited to attend these meetings and participate in the decision making process. Meetings are also recorded and available for viewing from the city website’s live content and video archive.

The City Council agenda is posted at City Hall and to this website by 9:00 a.m. on the Friday preceding a regular meeting.

City Council Agenda – January 6, 2025

The Ralph M. Brown Act Requires that all agendas be written clearly and in sufficient detail to allow the public to understand the question to be decided by the City Council. Piedmont makes every attempt to comply with both the letter and spirit of this law. If, however, you have questions concerning an item on a City Council agenda, please call the City Clerk’s office at (510) 420-3040. Also available are the staff reports for each item of business on the agenda.

Minutes of the City Council are available and posted on this page within a few days after a meeting occurs. Please note that the minutes are “DRAFT” until approved by the City Council. To request a printed copy of minutes, please contact the office of the City Clerk at (510) 420-3040.

To send comments to the City Council regarding a City Council agenda item, please email citycouncil@piedmont.ca.gov with the phrase “public comment” in the subject line.

To send via U.S. Mail, please use the following address:

City Council
City of Piedmont
120 Vista Avenue
Piedmont, CA 94611

Comments received by 4:00 pm the day of the meeting will be added to the public record that day.  Comments received after the deadline will be made available the following business day.

Communications directed to the City Council are public records and are subject to disclosure pursuant to the  California Public Records Act and the Brown Act unless exempt from disclosure under the applicable law.

Board of Education

The new president and vice president of the school board are Lindsay Thomasson and Ruchi Medhkar. The new trustees are Michael Malione, Max Roman, and Susy Struble. You can email the Board here: schoolboard@piedmont.k12.ca.us

(In 2022 the School Board upgraded what had been a relatively informal student board representative position to a more formal role as a preferential voting member of the Board — students can vote to express an opinion on a motion but their vote is not counted in determining the vote required to carry any measure before the Board or whether a quorum is in attendance at a Board meeting.)

Regular Board of Education meetings listed below areĀ held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, unless otherwise noted, and are held in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, 120 Vista Avenue, Piedmont, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Regular School Board meetings will be held in-person and broadcast on KCOM.

Special Board Meetings will be held in-person.

The next regular board meeting is Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025. You can find regular Board meeting agendas here. They must be published at least 72 hours in advance of a meeting.
