Piedmont High School’s girls soccer team returned to action this week and suffered a loss at Carondelet and a tie at home with Berkeley.
On Jan. 7, Piedmont lost at Carondelet, 3-0. Samantha Walker scored for the Cougars in the ninth minute. Taylor Juroff scored two goals in the second half, the first on a rebound and the second on a clean shot.
On Jan. 9, Piedmont tied Berkeley, 1-1. The Highlanders took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute when Juliana Thornborrow sent a cross towards the goal. Elsa Wallway tapped the ball to the front of the net where a Berkeley defender knocked it in for an own goal. Sophie Pomfret scored the equalizer at 61 minutes when she knocked a rebound into the net.
Piedmont is now 3-3-2 on the season. The Highlanders are next scheduled to play at home against Castro Valley on Jan. 14.
