Family: Anne, Greg, Izzy, Bea, and Millie Wheeler
Pet: Coco Grace
Age: 16 months
Breed: Greater Swiss Mountain Dog
Adoption story: After saying goodbye to our beloved Lab mix, Frances, our family — and especially our 15-year-old Beabull (a cross between a Beagle and an English Bulldog), Oliver — felt the emptiness of not having another dog around. I had always dreamed of owning a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, though my husband was a bit hesitant about taking on another large breed.
When our turn finally came on the breeder’s waitlist, Greg surprised me by saying, “Let’s go for it!”—without fully realizing just how big these dogs grow. We brought Coco home as a sweet 12-pound pup, joking that she didn’t seem much like a “big dog” at the time. Now, at 100 pounds and still growing, she’s all heart and has completely won over our family. We couldn’t love her more!
Likes: Coco loves strawberries, watermelon, counter surfing, meeting friends in the park, giving her sisters morning kisses, chasing tennis balls, and running on the beach.
Dislikes: Strangers knocking at the door and hot weather.
Interesting facts: Coco’s happy place is Stinson Beach.
Anything Else: Coco is the epitome of a gentle giant, and we love her more than words can say!
