An unidentified male suspect attempted to enter a home through a bedroom window on Arbor Drive on Dec. 4. According to the police log, he had a gun and fled when he saw a female resident in the bedroom.
The incident happened at 7:06 p.m. The suspect cut the screen over the window, according to Piedmont Police Department Captain Chris Monahan, and put his hand into the room. After seeing the resident, the man fled into the backyard.
Police arrived and conducted a check of the area. Local surveillance cameras were checked with no hits, according to Captain Monahan. The suspect was described as a white male wearing a dark (possibly black) jacket and black gloves.
On Nov. 29, an unidentified suspect took a gas leaf blower out of the back of a pickup truck on Oakland Avenue. The incident occurred at 1:30 p.m. The GMC Sierra was parked and had gardening equipment locked in the back. A tan Infiniti with a paper license plate pulled up and the passenger got out, cut the lock and fled in the Infiniti, according to Captain Monahan. He said the suspects fled west on Oakland towards Olive Avenue. The victim did not witness the crime and valued the leaf blower at $700.
On Nov. 29, an attempted vehicle theft from a driveway on Sea View Avenue was thwarted when the victim saw their black Volkswagen Atlas being taken and ran outside and yelled at the suspect. The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot towards La Salle Avenue. The incident happened at 10:41 p.m.
According to Captain Monahan, the suspect may have fled in a silver BMW that sped away from officers responding to the report.
