Boys soccer | Piedmont falls in tight match to Dublin

Logan Faucher (42) and Bosco Lorin (50) against Encinal on Dec. 15 in 2023.

Piedmont High School’s boys soccer team took a tough 3-2 defeat at home to Dublin on Dec. 18. Logan Faucher scored in the 22nd minute to give the Highlanders a 1-0 lead. Faucher had stolen the ball and scored unassisted.
That held up through halftime.

In the 72nd minute, Dublin’s Ethan Kennedy tied the score on a header off of a cross. Shortly thereafter, in the 75th minute, the Gaels went on top on a goal by Isaac Karattu.

In the 80th minute, Jimmy Lagios sent a cross to Harper Mand for the game-tying goal in the final minute of regulation. However, Dublin would score a goal in stoppage time to take the victory.

“Definitely an exciting game but unfortunately we were on the wrong end of the late goal this time,” Piedmont coach Ben Russell said. “We will have to get back to practice and look to execute game plans with a clearer understanding along with how we can manage the game in different ways depending upon the score line.”

On Dec. 20, the Highlanders took a 1-1 tie at Tennyson in their final match before winter break. No further information was available.

Piedmont is now 1-4-3 on the season and is scheduled to resume play on January 10 at home against Encinal. Match time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
