Strong atmospheric river to bring rain, wind to Bay Area

The National Weather Service says a strong atmospheric river will bring heavy rain and strong winds to the Bay Area beginning Tuesday night, with impacts lasting through the weekend. The worst effects will be felt in the North Bay, where more than a month’s worth of rain will fall over the next 3-4 days, the NWS said in an Tuesday update.

Rain totals for Oakland and Piedmont are expected to be much lower — in the 0.5-1″ range by the end of Wednesday, but the rainfall will continue through Monday.
