Malione, Roman, Struble secure their School Board spots

It was an unusual Board of Education contest this year: Three spots opened up when two board members — Hilary Cooper and Veronica Anderson Thigpen — opted not to run for a second term, joining Cory Smegal, who had termed out. Four candidates — Michael Malione, Max Roman, Victoria Rosenbaum, and Susy Struble — initially threw their hats into the ring. Rosenbaum subsequently dropped out, but not soon enough to have her name removed from the ballot.

So while the race was technically uncontested, the early results as of 10 p.m. reflect some confusion by voters:

Michael Malione, Max Roman, and Susy Struble will join the school board ranks in January.
