DBFL underwrites New York Times subscription for PUSD middle and high schools

PHS/PMS Teacher Librarians Carolyn White and Jennifer Gulassa, Library Media Technician Jacob Stahl, and Technical Specialist Jana Branisa gather to give thanks to DBFL for renewing the PMS and PHS New York Times subscription for the second year. Last year the online subscription was accessed over 200,000 times by students and staff.

We at Dress Best for Less are thrilled to announce that for the second consecutive year we are donating a New York Times subscription to the Piedmont schools benefiting PMS, PHS, and MHS students. When we heard that the PHS library was unable to renew their NYTimes subscription because of budgetary cuts last year, we jumped in to offer to renew it. We hope that this will provide broad access to a top-notch publication such as the NYT for our students.

Dress Best for less is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1982. It benefits the Piedmont public schools. DBFL donates most of its profits to the Piedmont Education Foundation. Over 1 million dollars has been donated over the past 40 years. DBFL also gives to the community at large and regularly donates to the following East Bay community groups: public schools in Oakland, Piedmont, and Richmond; the SPCA; and Oakland Children’s Hospital to name just a few.

DBFL is run by a passionate team of volunteers who care about recycling and repurposing.
