Voting options for the Nov. 5, 2024 election

Ballot drop box on Mountain Avenue in Piedmont.

From a City of Piedmont press release on Oct. 25:

If you haven’t yet voted, you have options. Mail in your ballot, drop it at a secure drop box, or vote in person at any of 100 locations across Alameda County by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

All registered voters were sent a vote-by-mail ballot in early October. If you are registered but did not receive a ballot by mail, contact the Alameda County Registrar of Voters at (510) 272-6933.

Conditional (“Same Day”) Voter Registration
If you missed the deadline to register for this election you can still vote provisionally by registering and voting at any vote center. Your ballot will be processed and counted after the Registrar of Voters has verified your information.

This process takes time, so your ballot may not be included in the results reported on election night.

Vote in-person at the Veterans Memorial Building or any other Alameda County vote center
Starting Saturday, Nov. 2, you can vote in-person at any of 100 vote centers across Alameda County, including the Piedmont Veterans Memorial Building (401 Highland Avenue). Vote centers will be open:
• Saturday, Nov. 2 – Monday, Nov. 4: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
• Tuesday, Nov. 5: 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.
A small subset of vote centers are open for a full 11 days before the election, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily starting Saturday, Oct. 26. The nearest 11-day vote center to Piedmont is at Oakland Technical High School (4351 Broadway).

Vote by mail or drop box
Ballots mailed through the post office must be postmarked by Nov. 5.

You can also submit your ballot 24 hours a day at the secure ballot drop box near the mailboxes at Highland Way and Highland Avenue, or at any of 65 other official Registrar of Voters ballot drop boxes across Alameda County.

The Registrar of Voters picks up ballots from the drop boxes every day. The last pickup will be 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Postage is not required for ballots submitted at the drop box.
