Scorching hot weather did not deter hundreds of Highlanders faithful from joining the Piedmont Boosters’ annual Oktoberfest fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Community Hall. Temperatures moderated a bit as the evening went on, and attendees enjoyed fare from local craft breweries, the Wente Wine Grotto, BBQ sausages, German-style pretzels, and music.

Event organizer Steve Humphries said more than 450 guests enjoyed 650 craft bratwursts, 500 pretzels, and 27 different beer and cider offerings from seven breweries. “The Wente Wine Grotto was busy all night thanks to the generosity of Wente Family Vineyards,” he said. “It felt like this was a breakout Oktoberfest event for us with everyone having such an amazing time under the lights at the community center.”

Tickets ranged from $60 – $200 per person and all event proceeds directly fund Piedmont Athletics programs.
