During my time in Piedmont, I have had the opportunity to take classes with numerous teachers who have positively influenced me academically and personally. One teacher in particular is Mrs. Willats. I had Mrs. Willats for 9th and 10th grade, IM ½ and IM 2B/3 math. Mrs. Willats stood out to me because of her consistent effort to support her students academically and mentally. I remember when I was in her class she would always have snacks, teas, stickers, and more to bring comfort to the students in her class. Especially after COVID with online school, I appreciated how she was able to recognize that it was a difficult place to be in academically and she made sure to make time outside of class to help with material.
Teachers like Mrs. Willats are so important because they allow many students to feel comfortable in class which allows students to have a much closer, more transparent relationship with their teachers. By supporting Measure P, you can continue to support teachers who aid students on their academic journeys.
