Letter to the Editor | Support Measure P to honor our special teachers

I am a 12th grader at Piedmont High School. I have had many great teachers, but the one I would like to reflect on is Ms. Hook.

She is one of Piedmont’s amazing special education teachers. My brother had her for his Learning Center class. She cares not only for their education but also for their emotional wellbeing. She helps coach the lacrosse team and has been instrumental in creating and leading the school’s peer tutoring program. I worked with her to help her run the school’s peer tutoring program my junior year. She cared about all the students who showed up and wanted to help better the community at Piedmont by making it a more communal learning environment. She cares deeply about the students at Piedmont.

We should be supporting our teachers more, not making them fight for incremental wage increases. They deserve better. Please support Measure P, so we can keep and get more amazing teachers like Ms. Hook.
