Girls golf team shoots 436 at D2
Piedmont High School senior Mei Assalian shot an 82 at the North Coast Section Division 2 championship, good for a tie for 12th place and a berth in the NCS Division championships.
The Highlanders team shot a 436 at Rooster Run Golf Course in Petaluma on October 28. That was good for 10th place in the 14-team field.
The top 18 individual finishers qualified for the NCS Division 1 tournament, to be held November 4 at Paradise Valley Golf Course in Fairfield. The tournament will start with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
Assalian is paired with Marin Catholic’s Lexi Ferguson, Campolindo’s Jasmine Malekafzali and Cardinal Newman’s Ella Foley. They will start in the B group on the 18th hole.
Peyton Watson shot a 115 for the Highlanders at the Division 2 tournament. Mackenzie Seto-Ngyuen was next with a 117. Gracey Ann Hatchell came home in 122 with Jameson Sanford finishing with a 125.
Cardinal Newman won the team championship with a score of 345. Branson was next at 367 followed by Justin-Siena-Napa at 380.
Alyssa Lim of James Logan took individual honors with a 67. Brooke Gongora was second with a 71 and Elsa Hsieh of Irvington was third with a 72.
