Community rallies to support Measure P

Supporters of Measure P gathered at the home of Melissa and Ali Partovi on Oct. 10 to raise essential funds for the campaign aimed at enhancing local education. The event, co-chaired by Melissa Partovi and Brooke Wall, attracted nearly 50 attendees, including Dr. Jennifer Hawn, Superintendent of Piedmont City Unified School District.

Chairs of Measure P, Claire Arno and Dave Karol, spoke passionately about the measure’s significance for Piedmont schools. “Passing Measure P is critical to keeping our schools as amazing as they are,” stated Karol, highlighting the urgent need for resources to attract and retain quality educators.

Arno emphasized, “Measure P will help us hire and retain the excellent teachers our kids and community need to maintain our high academic standards and achievements.”

The need for Measure P arises from state funding not keeping pace with the costs of a quality public education. The growing teacher shortage across California, compounded by economic uncertainties and the high cost of living in the Bay Area, has made it increasingly difficult to recruit and retain quality teachers.

Measure P aims to replace the existing Measure H, providing funding to attract exceptional teachers and educational staff. Funds will also support advanced educational programs, including those in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, as well as academic interventions for students needing additional support. As the campaign continues, community members are rallying to ensure Piedmont schools receive the resources they need to thrive.
