An Exedra reader and grandparent to a tiny tot wondered why the swings at the Piedmont Park playground were taped off on Monday.
The city’s communication manager Echa Schneider told the Exedra that “the swings in Piedmont Park were closed this weekend due to structural damage and that Public Works has removed the swings and will be removing the full structure.”
“The issue was identified by city staff who noticed the structure wobbling during use,” said Schneider. “We acted rapidly to investigate, then close the structure.” She said that the city’s playground equipment is inspected annually.
