Who’s that Good Dog?

Name: Annie. She came from the shelter with the name “Sweet Little Anne,” and she was also an orphan (like Annie in the musical).

Members of Family: Sydney and Spencer Brush

Age: About 9

Breed: Black and Tan Coonhound

Adoption Story: We rescued her during Covid, about a year after we lost our previous dog. We’ve always had hounds, so we searched for a while and eventually found her at Paradise Doggie Daycare in Sutter Creek. She came to the shelter after her previous owner got in a car accident and couldn’t care for her a year earlier.

When they brought out the dogs, Annie immediately ran to our laps, and we knew we found our dog.

Likes: She loves squirrels—she could sit underneath the trees in Dracena park and stare at them for hours. She also loves Trader Joe’s treats.

Forever seeking squirrels in Dracena.

Dislikes: She hates skunks, trucks, and garbage men.

Interesting facts: About six months after we rescued her, she lost her eye after getting a horrible infection in it. The doctors performed a pathology test and couldn’t find anything in her nasal cavity, so we still don’t know what exactly happened.

Anything else: She is the best dog; she has so much love to give. You can really tell that rescues understand how loved they are when they are in a loving household. She is the best girl.
