Photo update: Competition pool takes shape

Just add water. (Photo of large pool taken in August 2024)

On Friday the city shared the latest photos from the community pool project.

“After many weeks of digging and preparation, we poured the concrete floor of the competition pool,” said city communications program manager Echa Schneider. “I’m happy to report that the operation went smoothly with no issues. This is a huge milestone and an exciting time to be watching the construction camera as you can really see the site taking shape. Looking at all the workers inside the pool gives you a sense of how huge (and deep!) it is – the new facility will have double the water area of the old pool.”

Schneider says the next major milestone will be to “shotcrete” the pool walls, currently scheduled for the week of August 26.

Photos below are all for the competition pool. The plans also include a recreational activity pool with zero-depth entry and lap lanes.
