GoFundMe for Rockridge bookstore destroyed by fire raises almost $200K

East Bay Booksellers

A GoFundMe for East Bay Booksellers has raised almost $200,000 in the aftermath of a fire that destroyed the business on July 30. The owner, Brad Johnson, has been updating patrons on the store’s social media accounts.

In his newsletter, Johnson said fundraising is ongoing, patrons can still order books online, and he is planning for a return. Several events are in the works at Gilman Brewing Company:

Monday, August 12 – the National Book Award winning poet, Daniel Borzutzky, will be reading from his latest collection, along with special guests Rachel Galvin and Tongo Eisen-Martin. City Lights and Point Reyes Books are providing the books.

Thursday, August 29 – Sam Sax reads from their debut novel YR DEAD. More details and RSVP at the link.
