The Drink | Basil Peach Smash

Looking for a way to use the bounty of stone fruit that is likely sitting on your counters right now? This was a fun cocktail we came up with while rooting on one of my son’s college football teams during football season hence the name Georgia Peach. If you can find a peach flavored La Croix or other flavored seltzer water, and/or use Ketel One’s Peach Blossom, you will really enhance the sweet peach flavor. Regular peaches or nectarines can be used as well. Go Dawgs!

INGREDIENTS:

  • ½  ripe white peach peeled and diced
  • ½  white peach, sliced with skin on
  • 5 basil leaves
  • 3 oz lime juice
  • 1 T of maple syrup
  • 2 oz of vodka, Ketel One Botanical Peach recommended
  • Can of peach-flavored bubbly seltzer water, or regular club soda, or Prosecco

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Muddle up the peeled peach and 4 of the torn up basil leaves.
  2. Add lime juice, maple syrup and vodka. Stir up and add ice to the top of the glass.
  3. Top off with the sparkling seltzer water or club soda.
  4. Give a quick stir and then add a piece or two of the unpeeled peach slices and a big basil leaf.
