Police say victim was unconscious
A man was assaulted by another man on Grand Avenue on June 28. Piedmont Police were flagged down by witnesses in the area around 3:50 p.m. Police found the suspect and detained him without incident, according to Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan. The incident occurred in the city of Oakland and the Oakland Police and Fire departments responded to the scene.
According to Captain Monahan, the victim regained consciousness and declined further medical treatment. The suspect was transferred to the Oakland police. He was charged with battery and had outstanding warrants out of the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department for battery, grand theft and vandalism.
Domestic violence report leads to arrest; victim said suspect pushed her
A report of a domestic disturbance led to the arrest of a suspect on June 25. The alleged victim called Piedmont Police at 5:55 p.m. to report that she was in an argument with a man she was in a dating relationship with.
She reported the argument escalated and that he had pushed her, according to Piedmont Police Department Captain Chris Monahan. The suspect was arrested and taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin and booked for domestic battery.
Also on June 25, an individual was seen spraying water on an Infiniti two-door coupe with a second person in the vehicle. A records check found the license plate on the car belonged to a BMW four-door.
Police detained the two suspects and found the car had been reported stolen out of Santa Clara.
The male suspect spraying the car with water was determined to be on jail release for evading police and on Alameda County probation for possession of a stolen vehicle.
The male suspect that was in the vehicle then fled on foot and was not found.
A man was found sleeping on the sidewalk near the intersection of Oakland and Sunnyside avenues at 10:03 a.m. on June 23. Piedmont Police did a records check and warrants were found for child support violations, according to Captain Monahan. He was taken to Santa Rita Jail.
At 1:20 a.m. on June 27, Piedmont Police saw a grey Kia Optima with no license plates driving on Grand Avenue near Elwood Avenue. Upon a traffic stop, the vehicle was found to have been reported stolen and the driver was the suspect, according to Captain Monahan.
The driver was taken to Santa Rita Jail and the vehicle was towed.
On June 27, police made contact with a female on Grand at 7:41 p.m. The woman was identified through a recent picture and had two warrants, according to Captain Monahan.
She was searched and a glass pipe along with a tube for a pipe, a container with an unknown substance and another container with a fine white powder in it, according to Captain Monahan. He said two bags of suspected marijuana was found as well. The bags weighed a total of 87.23 grams.
The suspect was arrested for the warrants as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of over 28.5 grams. She was taken to Santa Rita Jail.
On June 29, a pile of mail was found in the middle of the street on Wildwood Avenue. The report came in at 8:10 a.m. Police attempted to contact the residents at the address but could not according to Captain Monhaan. The mail was booked into evidence.
On June 29, police observed a black 2004 Ford F-350 with a broken driver’s side lock. The license plate was found to have been reported stolen out of Antioch. A records check of the F-350 found it was reported stolen out of Reno, according to Captain Monahan. A catalytic converter was found in the truck. A black bag of personal documents was also found, according to Captain Monahan. The truck was towed.
Late on the night of June 30, police responded to a report of a vehicle flipped over on Grand. The call came in at 11:59 p.m. A silver 2006 Saturn Vue SUV was found on its roof with one person laying in the back, according to Captain Monahan. He said the driver was “combative” and refused to provide ID or information to police or fire department personnel. He also tried to refuse medical care.
The driver showed signs of head trauma as well as of intoxication, Captain Monahan said. The driver was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and taken to Highland Hospital, according to Captain Monahan. A warrant to draw blood was issued. The suspect was charged with DUI and delaying officers, according to Captain Monahan.
The vehicle was towed and the trees and shrubbery in the center median at Grand and Greenbank avenues were damaged.
On July 1 at 6:28, a house on Keefer Court was burglarized. Security cameras showed two unknown suspects wearing masks and gloves before entering the residence. The suspects ransacked the office and two bedrooms, according to Captain Monahan. The property owner has been contacted but the loss is unknown.
On July 2, Piedmont Police saw a green 2020 Jeep Wrangler driving at a high rate of speed on Grand Avenue, according to Captain Monahan. The officer reported seeing the vehicle swerving in and out of the late and reported the speed at 41 miles per hour.
The officer pulled the vehicle over. The female driver showed signs of intoxication, according to Captain Monahan, and told the officer she had consumed two beers. The driver was unable to complete field sobriety tests and declined to take a preliminary alcohol test, according to Captain Monahan.
The driver was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. Once there, she took a chemical test, which measured her blood alcohol level at 0.15 percent, according to Captain Monahan. A charge of DUI was added, he said.
At 9:27 on July 4, someone reported a male walking around with a rifle somewhere on Pacific Avenue. Police were unable to find an individual, according to Captain Monahan.
On July 5, police received a report of a vehicle with a door ajar and an alarm sounding on Selborne Drive at 1:15 a.m. Police arrived and found a man inside the vehicle (a gray Honda CRV) with the keys near the man inside the vehicle, according to Captain Monahan.
Captain Monahan said the driver smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech and watery, bloodshot eyes. Police asked him to exit the vehicle and he was unsteady, according to Captain Monahan. The driver could not submit to field sobriety tests. He was unable to answer some questions and refused a preliminary alcohol screenging, according to Captain Monahan.
A blood warrant was authorized and he was taken to Santa Rita Jail where he was booked for DUI.
On July 5, an unknown male suspect removed two packages from a residence on King Avenue. The incident occurred at 8:56 a.m. and the suspect was described as wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and dark shoes, according to Captain Monahan. He said the suspect was connected to a white 2017 Honda Accord with a license plate reported stolen out of Oakland. The packages were reported to be worth $225.
