Letter to the Editor | July Fourth parade and picnic showed our small town’s big spirit at its best

For 57 years, Piedmonters have come together to celebrate our nation’s birthday as a community. Like most of our annual special events, the 4th of July parade and picnic grew out of a resident’s vision (Mr. Dick Johnson) and is brought to life year after year by a group of dedicated and hardworking volunteers.

The Piedmont City Council would like to publicly extend our gratitude to the 4th of July Committee members and community volunteers who planned and executed the 57th annual Independence Day parade and picnic in the park. True to its theme, this year’s event showed our small town’s big spirit at its best.

Thank you to volunteers:
• Kathy Kelleher
• Carla Betts
• Roland Lazzarotto
• John and Carolee Morrison
• Michael and Carolyn Bruck
• Gray Cathrall
• Kimberly Gray
• Marilyn Weber
• Carrie McAllister
• Paula Klein
• Patty Edmonds

This event would not be possible without countless hours of hard work from this team, with support from the Piedmont Recreation Department’s Chelle Putzer, Eva Phalen, and Cora Wood. They are an inspiration for us all.
Sincerely,
CITY OF PIEDMONT
