Buttons and a bell are the way this resilient rescue communicates.
Name: Mirai (her name means “future” in Japanese)
Members of Family: Michelle Thompson, Carmela Song, Erica Thompson
Age: 3
Breed: Labrador Retriever Mix
Adoption story: Mirai is originally from Texas. Michelle fostered her from Copper’s Dream Rescue and then adopted her when she was 4 months old.
Likes: Mirai loves playing with puppies, barking loudly in Dracena Park, going to Point Isabel to dig and roll in the grass, chasing critters, and rolling on smelly things. She doesn’t necessarily like her rain jacket, Halloween costumes, and brushing her teeth, but she doesn’t hate it either.
Dislikes: Loud noises, walking near eateries and crowds, and going to the vet.
Interesting facts: She has been skunked twice. She knows how to use dog buttons to “speak” and a bell to notify me when she wants to go outside. She can communicate with us pretty well with her 5 dog buttons and a bell.
Anything else: Despite being only 3 years old, she has faced and triumphed over multiple surgeries for arthritis, hip and elbow dysplasia. Even through all that, she has unwavering determination to run and play with her friends.
