The completion of the new Performing Arts Center (PAC), and the Alan Harvey Theater within it, in 2022 using Measure H1 Bond proceeds was the culmination of years of planning and construction by the school district. To allow wider community use of the space, PUSD has now developed a facilities use agreement to govern rental of the facility to outside groups for a base rental fee of $355 per hour, with a refundable security deposit of $1,000. (The district is using a new platform — “Facilitron” — to manage facilities rentals.) The School Board approved the agreement at its June 26 meeting.

The fee also applies to all users except for PUSD programs, class-based use, co-curricular or extracurricular programs, or student organizations. Priority is given to:

  1. PUSD programs
  2. PUSD student clubs and associations
  3. Organizations promoting youth and youth activities
  4. Fundraising, entertainment, or meetings where admission fees are charged or
contributions are solicited for the welfare of PUSD students
  5. Community organizations based in Piedmont
  6. Other organizations

PUSD’s Finance Director Ruth Alahydoian said the district hopes to start renting the facility this summer and expects some rental details to be refined as time goes on. Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Hawn said she expected the agreement would be reviewed annually.
