A New Perspective: All hands on deck | Real Estate Insights

How talented teams come together to create a WOW house.

When we secured the listing on Arroyo Avenue, it wasn’t our usual quick refresh-and-sell project that usually requires just 3-4 weeks of intense activity. This home had suffered a good deal, and as a result, needed a rebirth that included gutting most of the interior, and virtually starting from scratch. In other words, we were looking at months – not weeks to bring this property to market in its best light.

The personal stories of one Realtor’s battles and triumphs in the highly-competitive Bay Area Real Estate Market, seeking to illuminate and humanize the very real ups-and-downs of homeownership.

It was all hands on deck to be sure. From top to bottom, our clients understood that their recently inherited home needed a significant investment, a dedicated and knowledgeable crew, and a supportive approach to the process. Fully permitted by the City of Piedmont, this all-level, Mid-Century underwent a major transformation, both inside and out including new windows, floors, kitchen, bathrooms, lighting, doors, and landscaping, along with a few unexpected issues that surfaced along the way. (They always do.)

A rainy winter coupled with an atmospheric river event presented an immediate need for a French drain. Meanwhile, new heating ducts were installed when an inspection revealed asbestos, an updated electrical panel proved necessary, and the sewer lateral replacement was required to obtain the final permit. Such is the nature of renovations.

Was it a lot to contend with? Were there a myriad of decisions that needed to be made and countless trips to the tile and hardware stores? Did the transformation require pivoting when necessary, a creative approach, the full support of our clients, the talents of our many teams, and a disciplined (but realistic) budget and timeline? Yes, yes, and yes!

But through it all, our thoroughly delightful (and flexible) clients never wavered, nor did they lose faith in the process, proving that good intentions, true integrity, and a positive attitude can create a winning formula and a much-desired result. (If only we could clone them.)

When all was said and done, the property came to market and sold within two weeks with six offers, and their investment in the property was well-rewarded. Now, that’s what we call a successful outcome.

Thanks to all who contributed their knowledge, expertise, and hard work, and special thanks to these unique Sellers who were the perfect clients for this particular journey which was truly rewarding. (Check out the entire renovation  @juliegardner.com/before–after).
