On May 22, the Junior Running Club held its end of season track meet at Witter Field. This is the only track meet that will be held at Witter Field in 2024 due to construction and the fact the new surface has not been laid yet.  Consequently, the running events took place on an asphalt oval with soccer discs marking the lanes and chalk marks designating the lanes.

Over 50 boys and girls in the fourth and fifth grades from Beach, Havens, and Wildwood elementary schools participated in five events.  The events were the 75 yard dash, 60 yard hurdles, 800 meter run, 4 by 100 meter relay and turbo javelin throw.  New meet records were set in every event except the 800 meter run. The first place finishers by gender and event were:

75 yard dash –  Salma Bendix (Beach) 9.72* and Teddy Johnson (Wildwood) 10.34*

60 yard hurdles – Salma Bendix 8.59* and Leon Irie (Wildwood) 8.84*

800 meter run – Avery Azad (Beach) 3:11.7 and Leon Irie (Wildwood) 2:57.8

4 by 100 Relay – Wildwood (Max Centeno, Leon Irie, Teddy Johnson, and Nicholas Phung) 64.28*

Turbo Javelin – Sofia Faucher (Beach) 63 feet, Nicholas Phung (Wildwood) 69 feet

* New Meet Record
