A car fire in the middle of the night on Crocker Avenue was the result of arson, according to the Piedmont Police Department.
The fire was reported at 1:15 a.m. on May 17. Piedmont police and fire responded to the report.
“It was a fully-involved car fire,” Captain Justin McNulty of the Piedmont Fire Department said, explaining “fully-involved” means the windows were blasted out and flames had engulfed the vehicle.
“Did a good job of putting it out before it spread to any other cars,” he added. “Kept it confined to the vehicle of origin.”
The Piedmont Police Department said in a Facebook post that, “After reviewing video footage of the incident, it was confirmed arson was the cause.”
Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan said the Department is “still trying to find owner of the victim vehicle. We have a suspicious car and we are going down that road too.”
Piedmont Police said anybody with any information should contact Detective John Lagios at (510) 420-3015.
