Piedmont girls lacrosse splits in return to action

Piedmont High School’s girls lacrosse team split a pair of matches as it returned to action following Spring Break. The Highlanders fell at home to Miramonte on April 16, 14-13. They then defeated Granada on April 17, also at home, 9-4.

Sawyer Bohlig scored the winning goal in overtime for Miramonte. Emma Glanville had scored the tying goal for the Matadors with just 23 seconds to go in regulation.

Ruby Guzdar scored four goals and had three assists to lead Piedmont. Peyton Watson and Hallie Burden each scored three times for the Highlanders. Chloe Graham had two goals and Friedie Schickedanz scored one and added an assist.

Annika Hattan-Kutter and Sophie Santander each had two saves for Piedmont.

Bohlig finished with eight goals and an assist for Miramonte. Sydney Gray scored three goals for the Matadors.

Watson scored four goals to lead the Highlanders against Granada. Guzdar had three while Schickedanz and Louisa Cole each scored once. Laurel Bentley had two assists and Guzdar and Schickedanz had one apiece.

Santander had two saves.

Ella Coltrin had two goals for the Matadors.

On April 18, the team notched a decisive 17-1 win at home against Newark Memorial. That game was also Senior Night.

Piedmont is now 11-4 and 5-0 in West Alameda County Conference play. The Highlanders’ next scheduled match is April 24, when the WACC tournament begins.
