Piedmont girls lacrosse closes season with rout of Newark Memorial

Piedmont High School’s girls lacrosse team ended its regular season on April 18 with a 17-1 win at Newark Memorial. The Highlanders finish the season with a 10-4 record on the field and next have the West Alameda County Conference playoffs beginning April 24 with a home game against the same Newark Memorial squad.

It was senior night for Piedmont. The team honored Hailey Marshburn, Jane Hempeck, Laurel Bentley, Ruby Guzdar, Henley Lorin, Kira Pan, and Orla Cohen before the game.

Guzdar and Hallie Burden had three goals apiece to lead the onslaught. Marshburn and Luisa Cole had two each. Hempeck, Bentley, Peyton Watson, Emily Williamson, and Mary and Friedie Schickedanz each had one goal. Friedie Schickedanz had two assists. Burden, Chloe Graham, and Olive Litwin each had one assist.

Annika Hattan-Kutter had seven saves.

Thalia Hernandez had the goal for Newark Memorial.
