Piedmont boys volleyball reaches end of season

The Piedmont High School boys volleyball team concluded its season on April 26 at Bishop O’Dowd with a 0-3 loss to Bishop O’Dowd. The Highlanders have an 8-12 record, 3-9 in West Alameda County Conference play.

On April 19, Piedmont dropped a tight match at home to San Leandro, 21-25, 25-23, 25-22, 21-25, 15-13. John Champion had 25 kills in the match while Spencer Sorenson-Wald had 18.

On April 16, the Highlanders defeated Arroyo on the road, 25-22, 26-24, 25-19. Champion had 18 kills and Sorenson-Wald had 12.

On April 23, Piedmont fell at Castro Valley, 25-16, 25-13, 25-18.

The Highlanders opened WACC play on March 6 with a 25-16, 25-18, 26-24 loss at Alameda. On March 8, they fell at home to Arroyo, 18-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-20. On March 12, Piedmont lost at San Leandro, 25-16, 25-17, 25-19. On March 15, host Castro Valley defeated the Highlanders, 25-22, 25-18, 21-25, 25-22.

Piedmont got a nonleague win over visiting Pioneer-San Jose on March 19 by a 25-23, 25-23, 25-18 score. On March 20, the Highlanders returned to WACC play with a 25-16, 25-9, 25-21 win at Tennyson. On March 22, host Bishop O’Dowd downed Piedmont, 25-13, 25-9, 25-12. On March 26, the Highlanders defeated visiting Hayward, 25-19, 25-16, 27-25.

On March 28, Piedmont lost at home to Alameda in straight sets (scores unavailable). On April 3, Head-Royce took care of the visiting Highlanders in five sets  (scores unavailable). On April 4, Piedmont defeated host Encinal, 26-24, 25-16, 16-25, 22-25, 15-11.

On April 15, the Highlanders returned from break and fell to visiting Berkeley, 25-23, 25-15, 25-19.
